Movie Lemming...

SUPPOSEDLY if you've seen over 85 [of these] films, you have no life. Mark the ones you've seen. There are 239 films on this list. Copy this list, go to your own facebook [or LJ] account, paste this as a note [or update]. Then, put xes next to the films you've seen, add them up, change the header adding your number, and click post at the bottom. Have fun."

I'm guessing that according to this I'll have no life. )

Yes, is official... according to this lemming, I have no life.

And _many_ of you are worse than me. :)

There were several movies in there that I'd seen part of but not all of, such as Halloween or Nightmare on Elm Street. Also, there are a couple in there that have old versions and modern versions... of which I've only seen one.

Rent

A movie theater near us showed a recorded live version of theatrical production of Rent.

Wow.

I fell in love with the story because of the movie... and I'm amazed at the number of ways the movie is exactly like or very different from the play. And... it still managed to make me cry.

[info]last_bastion and I had an interesting discussion of who we liked in the movie compared to the stage performance on the way home.

Ultimately... it was great. And I can't wait to see it live on stage.

*smiles* Evidently, its coming to Denver next year. Going to have to make sure we make it out to see it in person.

Tonight begins a four day weekend. Yay! Many moons ago, I looked at [info]last_bastion and said, "I'm not working on my birthday. How 'bout we make it a long weekend?" The long weekend mutated into four days... and I'm going to absorb every piece of it.

But... we're planning on doing stuff.

Movie. Rocky Mountain National Park. Wolf preserve. *smiles* My honey loves to spoil me, and after my last birthday tanked in the middle when I got sick, it'll be nice to have the extended weekend and the good time.

For [info]chapel_of_words, we watched No Country for Old Men finally. And... I really enjoyed it. It had similar qualities of nonsequitor to There Will Be Blood, but without the jarring lack of cohesion. *smiles* [info]last_bastion and I have spent a good deal of time _quoting_ There Will Be Blood, though, so I guess we didn't dislike it that much.

And, for more in the realm of the strange and random, [info]last_bastion and I had an interesting encounter while walking the other day. Its strange how election season grabs hold of people... we had a random little old lady carrying signs for a local Democrat stop us to ask which way we were voting. The conversation looped in many directions. She was nothing but polite, and friendly, and we walked away from it smiling. Given our recent life, it was a strangely adult conversation that didn't include a computer as an interface.

I love my many friends... but I miss seeing all of you face to face. *smiles* I miss talking, and sharing food, and laughing, and seeing all of your expressions while doing it. Computers are great, but they're no replacement for being in the same space and experiencing the energy radiating from another human being.

Anyway... much love to everyone. *hugs around*

I just finished watching There Will Be Blood.

... I don't get it.

No... seriously... this is my confused face.

Lord of the Rings

About once every six months, it is a requirement that I sit down and watch the whole Lord of the Rings series again. It does some warm spot in my soul good.

At some point, we'll have The Hobbit to go with it.

Oh... and Annie Lennox has one of the world's most beautiful voices.

This evening's post brought to you by the profound sense of contentment I get out of watching Return of the King and the residual thrumming of Annie Lennox's voice in the back of my mind.

If you are a lover of the zombie genre and you _haven't_ seen Fido... go out and rent it. It was an entertaining movie, and an appropriate evolution in the zombie storytelling line.

For those of you who are cinema fans as well... watch the movie, then turn on 'The Making of Fido' in the special features section. Do not do this before watching the movie. Wait until you've watched the movie, then do so. *smiles* Its well worth it.

The rest of you who have seen it... hush... don't ruin the surprise for others. :)

We have seen the Transformers.

I have heard various critiques of the movie, and I have to say, as an adult who came up as a child sitting in front of the TV avidly waiting to see each Transformers episode every Saturday morning, I am most gratified.

I didn't walk in expecting an epic, or gradiose story. I just walked in expecting to be entertained by an updated version of a thing I loved from my childhood. And it didn't let me down.

Honey. I never got it... They used to offer it to the gods, you know. Some people in the present day still do. I never really understood why until yesterday.

You see, this is the strange thing about working for a company that caters to an eccentric customer base. On one hand, they yell at you constantly for being behind scheduale or just not quite right. On the other hand... they send you the strangest things. This one sent honey from his hives, comb still intact.

I an completely convinced that I have never tasted a sweet thing quite so nice as fresh honey.

I see Black King made it to the journal finally. I think I'm scared ;)

Solstice. Longest night of the year. Tomorrow, the nights get shorter, the days longer, gradually... gradually... until we're in summer again. But the coldest part of the year is yet to come. *shudders with the thought of January*

I'm a warm blooded creature, really. That means being warm. None of this cold bullshit.

*******************************

Oh, yeah, and I'm a Kanga too....

Take the 100 Acre Personality Quiz!

I'm guessing it must be a Cam thing. We do, after all, represent a certain minority culturally, I think. Although I'll deny the whole love of child thing bit. No way, man. *smiles* Along the same lines, I've never really known anyone to ever listen to me all that well either. Maybe its something to do with being unasertive.

*smiles* But my Roo... he's on my headboard right next to the picture that asserts "you will have been all of these" with a bundle of sage at his feet ;)

Lord of the Rings.

I could really ramble... I could. But I wouldn't be saying all that much that's new. Most, I find, are in agreement on this one. Been waiting a while, and in general very impressed.

I think the word I'll use is.... moved.

And we all know that above all I crave those things that fire the senses and move.

Then I think I'll use exhausted. I promised myself, after making it to work after two hours of sleep following the flick (a brief interlude between getting home and getting up filled with dreams of elves and rangers and hobbits) that we would not be doing this 3 hours starting at just shy of 11 o'clock again.

I know I lied to myself. Likely, I'll be there, same time same place, again. We may even have to see about making a habit of this whole Cheesecake Factory just before the show *smiles contentedly*.

Only one thing I can think of that would have made it better...

King Elias. I would have loved to have been sitting in the theater with him in sight to see this one. *pauses thoughtfully* Okay... maybe two. But still, the one is possible. *hugs*
